'Twas a warm Wednesday evening with me in my shop
I still needed some shelves - I still needed to mop!
The bolt bins were hung by the front door with care
In hopes that missing ones would be found there
The sockets were nestled all snug in their drawer
The others hold wrenches and pliers and more
Wifey was inside with cats in her lair
While songs from Ms. Swift wafted out in the air
When out on the street I heard the air brakes
I stopped all my work and brushed off some wood flakes
I ran out front quickly disregarding the heat
A big FedEx truck was parked right in the street!
The driver was balding and said this to me:
"There's a large crate for you in this here truck right here, see?"
Too small for the pallet jack balanced with care
On one single fork with the other in air
With sweat beading up on his shiny bald pate
I thought they would tumble right off the lift gate!
He lowered it gently to the street down below
With excitement down in my belly aglow
Down on the street he did nothing but talk
As he pushed that crate up to the empty sidewalk
With paperwork signed the bald driver then left
Me pondering how I would hoist such great heft
With prybars and hammers I ripped off the lid
To see what great treasures this wood done did hid
I cut off a zip tie and tore open a bag
If I had a tail it surely would wag
A 383 stroker complete carb to pan
Aluminum heads and a nice roller cam
Back in the shop through those bolts I then sift
For large ones to chain the heads right to the lift
The Orion arrived in his Toyota sled
To help get it loaded in to my truck bed
A slow trip around the back yard to the shop
And all is stored safely - I still needed to mop!
The dyno sheet says four four seven H P
With torque pretty steady: four eighty point three
We all went to dinner then back home again
After years of strict saving the work can begin!
