Moving Part 2
Five months later…
We are technically done moving. At least in the sense that all of our stuff is here. In boxes. But even though we bought a house that needed almost no work, we started some remodeling that, at this rate, may never end. But we are getting closer.
The house has a garage in front and a workshop in the back large enough to get a car into. Right now, half of the garage is filled with tools and boxes marked “garage”. Or maybe “garage: tools”. Most have been opened at this point because I need certain things, but I cleverly didn’t organize or mark my boxes in a sane way. The shop is 15×30, so large enough for a tool chest and a car, but not large enough to store all the big stuff, so the next step is to figure out getting a shed built for tool storage and a smooth enough walkway that I can roll things like the engine hoist around easily. Concrete would be ideal, but it may end up being pavers for now.
Of course, the best part of this plan is to bring the cars over and make sure they will all fit. Pandora took a short drive a couple of weeks after our trip down the hill, but has been parked back in the same spot she sat in for most of the last 27 years since. Still, I drove over, primed the carb and she fired right up. With the parking brake on and the wet winter we’ve had here, the rear brakes rusted themselves to the drum causing the rear tires to lock up with the lightest touch on the brake pedal. But after a couple hundred yards, they loosened back up.
It is nice to have her back home with me again.
