And I said, “Let there be light!”
Winter is finally over! I would have preferred a couple of months of cooler Spring weather, but instead we’ve got to full-on Summer. Ah well, at least it isn’t freezing in the garage.
I replaced all of the front brake lines and the frozen caliper just before winter hit in force. And all winter long, she’s been happy to start and run, though her trips consisted of being moved in and out of the garage whenever the other cars needed maintenance. I was going to put her back up on the skates, which would have eliminated a lot time spent scraping ice off of whatever I drove into work, but it has been such a thrill have her move under her own power.
Since the world has gone all pre-apocalypse, I’ve been trying to take care of the free / inexpensive stuff. I refurbished my dad’s old air compressor which sat for twenty-ish years in the elements. That and trying to get the garage better organized has kept me busy on and off for the first half of the year.
As for Pandora, I thought hunting down whatever electrical issue that kept the back part of the car from lighting up was going to take up at least a couple of weekends, but it didn’t take long to trace the problem to a bad ground in the trunk. Now all the lights work again! The speedometer bulb is out and the heater fan doesn’t work (which explains the new one I found buried in the trunk), but that is the extent of her electrical problems.
With that fixed, the only things keeping her off the road are the bent axle and the loose rear window. Both of which I hope to have taken care of this coming weekend. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even be able get her registered again next week!
