Encouragement

Last night was a good night. Wifey and I watched American Werewolf in London as the first of our Halloween movies, and best of all, Pandora started and ran!

The coil itself didn’t do the trick. The existing spark plugs were universally horrible – pitted and crusted with oil, so I replaced those and wires. The cap and rotor were both completely new, or at least unused after being purchased and installed almost 25 years ago. I also replaced the points and condenser at the last minute while in the parts store. Neither of these are things I’ve thought about in a couple of decades, so I was pretty happy when my mouth just ordered them for me. Especially since it seems the new points are what ultimately fixed it.

Fortunately, she started up immediately once the points were adjusted. Unfortunately, she only ran until the gas in the bowl lasted. I should have replaced the fuel pump when I did the rest because it doesn’t pump anymore. Even more unfortunately, the rest of the parts to fix the brakes and wheel bearings on Sandra arrived. Since that car needs to be fixed and aligned before a road trip next week, Pandora is stuffed in the back of the garage again until that’s done.

The garage still smells like Camaro exhaust!
