Truck Testing
The past month or so has been pretty busy. There was a weekend of NOT working on cars, one with a Weird Al concert out of town, and one of an SCA camping trip. But we were finally able to do some “real” testing last weekend in the forest.
I’ve been driving Truckasaurus to work as often as I can, which is mostly highway driving, and she did haul equipment in and out of our campsite, but last weekend we took her out into the forest to bounce her around a little. Plus it has been around 7 years since she’s had any mud on her.
All in all, I was pretty happy. We didn’t do anything crazy, but the transmission did great, four-wheel-drive still works fine, and as a bonus, I even have the A/C blowing out coldish air (I’m not convinced my R134a conversion is working out). We put 90 miles on her Sunday just driving around and exploring.
She still needs a bit of work. I still need to get lower control arm bushings in, the spare tire underneath is rusted into place, a vibration either from tires or the driveshaft, and the shifter is really sloppy. I have bushings for both the control arms and the shifter, so these little bits will get dealt with soon. But before that is done, I’m taking a weekend to get a parts list together for Pandora!
