Transmission Woes

I managed to get the case off the transmission over the week. I was really, really hoping I’d just find something simple so I could just clean it and seal it back up. Of course, the only damage I could find was a chewed up synchronizer ring for second gear. Which is pretty much in the exact middle of the output shaft. Which means that pretty much the entire transmission has to be disassembled to get to it.

Right at the exact center!
All three alignment slots look the same.

Ah well. It only took me seven hours to get it apart. And that includes modifying my gear puller to fit in some of those tight spaces and a trip to the store to get a 28mm socket. I’ll be interested to see if I can get it back together any quicker.
